Court has jailed a 52-year-old man, Ademilua Oni, in Ekiti State for allegedly murdering his 92-year-old mother, Comfort Oni.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, the defendant committed the offence on December 15 at Iropora-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The Court prosecutor alleged that the defendant pushed his mother to de@th after she confronted him for stealing.
This incident has led to the defendant being charged with m*rder, an offence that contravenes Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
During the court hearing, the prosecutor requested that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Kehinde Awosika, granted the request and ordered the defendant’s remand in the correctional centre.
The case has been adjourned until January 30, 2025, for further mention.
