Sokoto State security operatives have successfully foiled a kidn@p attempt on a commercial vehicle, rescuing seven passengers, including children, from the clutches of armed bandits.

The incident occurred at Kwanar Mahalba along the Goronyo-Sabon highway in the eastern senatorial district of Sokoto State, an area notorious for banditry.

Tragically, one passenger was shot de@d by the bandits before the security operatives arrived.

However, the prompt response of the joint security patrol team, comprising Nigeria Police operatives and members of the Sokoto State Community Guard, ensured the safe rescue of the remaining passengers.

The rescued victims were presented to Deputy Governor Muhammad Idris Gobir, who commended the security operatives for their bravery and swift response.

Gobir revealed that the joint patrol team has rescued a total of 63 victims from bandits in the last four days, with 24 rescued last Sunday, 39 on Monday, and 7 on Wednesday.

The Sokoto State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Government, is intensifying efforts to combat the activities of Lakurawa terr*rists.

Security measures are being strengthened in areas known to harbor Lakurawa members, ensuring a safer environment for citizens.
